Table scene:
Beautiful Stranger
(Blair and Karren are sitting opposite each other at the
dinner table, with Blair on Andrews left and Karren on his right)
(Blair makes no eye contact with Andrew what so ever, as
this may give away anything to Karren about Andrew and Blairs relationship)
Blair: (looks up at Karren) this dinner is lovely.
Karren: (looks up to Blair directly in the eyes) Thank you.
Andrew: so what is it that your husband does? (asks Blair as
cluelessly)
Blair: He’s a private investigator.
Karren: That’s handy, very hand (says this slowly as she
objectifies Blair)
Blair: One might think so (laughs)
Andrew: (scoffs) And what is it that you do?
Blair: I’m a waitress (whilst cutting her food which she
slowly puts in her mouth)
Andrew: That’s all most like what my wife does but you get
paid and she does it for free(laughs as hes made a joke about her job being
similiar to his wifes-may offend)
Andrew: Do you and your husband have any children?
Blair: No, not yet.
Karren: Me and my husband have been trying to have children
for a very long time now, when it happens it’ll happen (seems saddened by this,
looks at Andrew and places her hand on his and looks down)
Andrew: Not now woman!
(Karren gives an awkward smile, pushing away from Andew)
Karren: (indirectly) are you anjoying this Blair?
Blair: (looks confused as to what Karren is implying) umm,
the dinner? Yes like I said before, it is lovely.
Andrew: stop coming on so stro-o-o-o-ng....(chokes and
callopses)
(Both Karren and Blair step out of their seats to side with
Anderew)
Karren: (screeches) Oh sweet lord! What have I done.... YOU!
(points at Karren, her voice slowly starts to raise up) that plate was meant
for YOU! I put the poison in there for YOU! And now my husband is dead because
of YOU! You commited adultrey with my husband and thought I didn’t know? Hmm? I
befriended you, YOU witch, to put you straight. And now(chokes up) I am left a
widow because of YOU! That should of have been you dead not him!
(looks away at the table, sees the knife in sight, grabs it
in an instant, raises her arm up, goes in to stab Blair)
(Shadow projects this and Blair falls to the floor)
(A sense of relief, Karren smiles to herself, when there is
a sudden knock on the door)
Karren: Who is it? (worried and tense, Karren begins to
panic)
Bill: It’s me, Bill, open up I have something to tell you.
Karren: (opens the door, she begins to smile and begins to
relax) I-I-I-I-I-I .... Bill...look(points over at the 2 bodies that lay there)
he betrayed me Bill, Andrew, he betrayed me and her, your wife, she’s a whore
Bill. Bill, I’m so sorry.
Bill: Oh Karren, it’s okay.. for I love you Karren
Karren: I love you too Bill.
Karren: with them two gone we can be together, we’ll run
away and live in peace.
(Bill pulls Karren closer to him, they hug and close up of
this pans out)
(End scene)
Scene 2: The
Encounter:
Beautiful Stranger
(Bill gradually walks to Andrews’s front door, emotionally
raged and feeling optimistic. He reaches for the door bell when suddenly the
door swings wide open.)
Bill: uh..hehello
Karren: Oh hello, you are?
Bill: I’m a boat salesman ma’am
Karren: Oh I see, would you like to come in?
Bill: yes of course, that would be nice
(Bill walks into the house and into the living room, being
directed by Karren. She initiates a hand signal at the sofa, where he sits
down.)
Karren: My husband deals with things like this you see but I
definitely find this interesting. I was on my way out actually (takes of coat)
so I’m glad I caught you. Otherwise nobody would of answered.
Bill: (tries to show he’s interested in the conversation)
Karren: would you like anything to eat? We haven’t got much food;
I was going out for grocery shopping you see.
Bill: No, nothing, water would be nice actually
Karren: oh okay. Make yourself at home! (she shouts as she
walks from the living room to the kitchen)
Bill: you have a lovely home (says as he objectifies
everything in the room, closely observing the picture frames that lye so
effortlessly on the shelf)
Karren: Ah why thank you Mr! I’m always telling Andrew: my
husband, get this done, get that done. Always trying to have my home to
perfection (says this happily with a vague smile on her face, re entering the
room)
Bill: And does he?
Karren: (laughs) you can see that for yourself
(They both smile at each other for a moment because personally
the know that individually, they have not laughed in a very long time)
Bill: I’m sorry to
have disturbed you (suddenly puts down his glass and jumps out of his seat)
Karren: (stands up shaking her head) no it’s fine honestly….
Bill: …no it was wrong of me to just come into your home
like this, I do apologise. I must go
Karren: but you didn’t even show me any boats yet? (laughs
nervously)
Bill: I’ll come back… yes next Thursday will you be home?
Karren: indeed I will, nothing much round here to do for a
housewife
Bill: then I shall see you on Thursday
(Bill opens the door but looks back at Karren and gives her
a gracious smile)
Bill: goodbye
Karren: goodbye!
(End scene)
Survey Analysis
Based on the response i have recieved majority of the public is aware of the recent phone hacking scandal, and are aware of the law it breaks. However, they don't understand in depth what happened in the phone hacking scandal though it was all over the media world wide. The knew that Rupert Murdoch was the owner of New of the World and were also aware that it had been shut down because of the phone hacking scandal.
Majority of the people who took my survey are 16-18 years old, so they may not heave been bothered by it or they don't really follow media coverages. It goes to show that young adults aren't really bothered by what happens in the media or what news paper shut down. It is of no interest to them, which to me is very sad.

Film Noir Evaluation
My role in the Film Noir was quite fascinating, yet challenging. I played one of the main character (karren) Karren is the Femme Fatale, who befriended her husband's lover in order to poison her, but all was not according to plan when her husband turned up and drank the poison instead. I found it very difficult to get into the mindset of the character in which i was playing when we first started filming, in fact it took me uptil nearly the end of the dead line to actually grasped unto my role. This and adding to the fact that most of the pre production planning for the Film Noir was unfinshed and the script had to be changed quite oftenly because it was not up to the standard of a Film Noir.
The whole purpose of Pre- Production is preparing all the elements involved in making the Film Noir or anything film, series etc for that matter. It is the planning stage of the shootings, breaking down the swcript into small chunks so that the actors, producers etc knows what they are meant to do. Having not done most of the Pre- Production it was very difficult to shoot the film noir because on the day of filming the actors/ actresses had to be practicing the script, while the director thought of how to shoot the scenes, what camera angles to use and so on forth. This would not have been a problem if the storyboard were done or the shotlist and so on forth. One could argue that we were too exciting about filming the scenes that we forgot to prepare all the vital things needed to make the Film Noir.
Because Film Noirs are in black and white. The lighting is the key to it all because you want to be able to see the characters and make shadows etc. Memicking natural sunlight is a hard task, and this is what we had to do for the table scene. The lighting technician found it very difficult to set up the lights in the right positions ensuring that it is not too bright or dull on camera; the actors weren't to bright or dull, there weren't no reflections etc. The lighting technician and the camera operator had to work side by side to make the Film Noir look and sound professional.
My team mates and my Lecturer were very helpful because they helped me get into the mindset of my character seen as it was difficult, not that i didn't know what to do. I felt burdened because of the ending of the script. I felt it all rested on my shoulders like if i messed it up then we'd fail the task. Although there were downfalls in making the Film Noir we managed to create a very humorous and creative piece if work. Everyone understood exactly what was happening in the scence. They were able to read between the lines and predict the aftermath.
Overall, I had fun doing this project because i was able to show off my creative side on camera and I really enjoyed making the Film Noir. In future, the Pre- production will be the number one priority because it is very important to plan in order for a film to come out to the standard of both the Director and the Producer

Rupert Murdoch
Dear Gavin Barwell,
This email is in regards to Rupert Mordoch's bid to take over BSkyB. Cosidering the recent phone hacking scandal, I personally think it would be a huge mistake if he should succeed in this bid. Turning BSkyB over to him would spread a sense of propaganda throughout the media. The media should be for everyone and not just for one person, giving it to one person can cause a web of vast conspiracy.
Rupert Murdoch has already proven to the public that he is not fit to run a news corporation because of the recent phone hacking scandal. News of the world has disappointed us after journalists breached the Data Protection Act and invaded the privacy of the many well know celebrities, the Monarchy and The Dowler Family. This proved that they will do anything, no matter the consequences to get the story they're after.
In the recent Phone Hacking scandal, it was brought to our attention that there has been a cover up within the media as journalists would not admit or denied hacking into phones for private information to help with their story. News of the world hired many privater investigator to hack into the voicemail of the missing school girl Millie Dowler and listened to the voicemails of the Dowler family, and even deleted some evidence that could have been useful to the police. They gave the family false hope in believing their daughter was still alive, though she was already dead months earlier.
Another example of how much of a bad reputation he has is the Fox News in America. Fox new is a disgrace to the media. They are biased and they edit their stories and interviews if they are too militant as in a cause of propaganda.
Yours Sincerely,
Tashayna.

Pioneer of Editing- Martin Scorsese
I have chosen to analyze Goodfellas. In "Goodfellas" Pure Cinema is used to show the mobsters mind at work. This happens say about 3/4th of the way throughout the film. James Conway ( played by Robert De Niro) Is a heartless mobster who is being hassled by Morris Kessler, the man who planned the recent robbery at the airport for Conway. As Kessler is ready to leave the bar the camera cut to a mid shot of Conway at the counter, just then the song "sunshime of your love" began to play off camera. We then watch the shot reverse shot pushes in as Conway's eyes looks from Kessler to his glass, to the man sitting beside him and then right back to Kessler. Conway cracked a smile then it disappeared as he was about to take a puff of his cigarette. From his eyes associated with the camera's close up illustrates that he his lost in his thoughts. In just one shot the audience could tell that he has no intention in paying Kessler, instead he will kill Kessler and take the money for himself.

Zeotrope
A Zeotrope is a device that creates the illusion of motion from a highly succession of static pictures. It is a cylinder with vertically slits in the sides, with a band of images from a set of sequenced pictures. The slits scans the images preventing them form blurring together and when it was spun at the right speed the images appeared to be moving.
It generally focuses on the movements that repeats themselves like walking or animal movements. At first it looks like just plain images inside the cylinder, but once it started spinning it turns into something magical if you look through the little slots.
The Zeotrope worked similarly to an earlier animation device called the Phenakiscope. This used the persistance of vision principle to create an illusion.

Frankie Boyle
As in concerning to the insenstive joke made by comedian Frankie Boyle about Jordon's disabled son Harvey Price, I am outraged at the way he discriminated against a helpless child who can't defend himself. Although the joke was aimed at celebrities and their publicity- seeking ways, it still did not give him the right to be so ignorant and cold hearted againts the disabled.
According to Ofcom the joke made by the comedian which was aired on Channel 4 "controvened the program code, channel 4 continued to doge giving a formal apology" There should be boundaries on what jokes are aired on national televison and I believe a formal statement of apology should be made to Harvey and all the other disabled by Channel 4 and Frankie Boyle.
Even though, he defended himself later on by claiming that he was only highlighting the life style of the well know celebrity Jordon because of the way she exploits her son Harvey, it is of no value to either Harvey or Jordon because a child is not obligated to pay for the action of his/ her parent(s).
Ofcom has ruled that the material in question posed a significant cause to offend. In addition, the joke also mocked the mental and phsical disablities of a child who has not chosen to be of any interest to the public because of the reputation of his mother. Harvey may be disabled but he has the same rights and feelings of any other human being on this planet, and he should not be singled out because of his condition. Personally, I think Frankie Boyle should be banned from televison all together because he is a bully and he only pick on people who are unable to fight back.

David Starkey
Dear BBC Headquaters,
I am writing this complaint in regards to the David Starkey's recent racist comment on News Night about the recent riots which occured couple months back. I believe the debate was held unfairly and very poorly. Such comments should have never been aired out on national television. His comments were disgusting and outrageous, and he should have never been seated on the panel in the first place.
Although, he made these comments of his free will. However, I find the BBC should also be blammed for allowing Starkey to express his feelings. And also, I feel the converstion should have been cut as soon as he started with those racist comments and being ignorance.
"We must therefore balance our presumption of freedom of expression with our responsibilities, for example to respect privacy, to be fair, to avoid unjustifiable offence and to provide appropriate protection for our audiences from harm." According to the BBC regulations, the audience is at the heart of everything they do and expressions that are made should not be of harm to them. Well, I beg to differ on the grounds on whether such statement was a fact, then David Starkey would never have had the oppurtunity to lash out at Black people and blame the riots on "the black culture or way of life"
David Starkey is a racist man and personally I think his opinions should no longer be of value, if all he is going to do is sterotype and blame all things bad on another person because of the color of their skin, their denomination or their way of life. As a viewer of the BBC, I am very disappointed and annoyed at the way you all allowed the debate to persisted and gave David Starkey the opportunity to disrespect the black culture, and I also feel there weren't enough done on his case.

Edward Muybridge
Eadweard Muybridge was an English Photographer who spent most of his life in the United States. He's most notable for his pioneering work on animal locomotion which is used to capture motion, and his zoopraxiscope, a device for projecting motion pictures pre-dated the flexible perforated film strip.
Muybridge became well known for his Landscape photography , particularly of the Yosmite Valley. He spent must of his later years in San Fransico, California lecturing and demonstrating his photographis work and early motion picture sequence findings.
In 1872 the former governor of California, racehorse owner and business man Leland Stanford hires Muybridge for some Photographic Studies to illustrate whether all of the feet of a horse were off the ground while trotting, and also whether the same technique goes for a horse gallop.
To accomplish his demonstartion he captured images in the form of Silhouttes onti a disk to be viewed on a machine he had invented, which is called a Zoopraxiscpe. He also invented his own high class speed electronic shutter and electro-timer to be used alongside a battery of 24 cameras in his set project.Using all these technologies and the Chronography, which was used to recored the vibration when the camera shutters went down, and therefore recorded the movements to prove that all four of the horse feet came off the ground whilst trotting and Galloping.
Muybridge findings and techniques are what inspired most, if not all pohotographers nowadays.

Claymation Animation Evaluation
In claymation Animation the objects are made by clay or a similar moldable material known as Plasticine.
As in all stop motion animation, claymation animation is set up on the set (background) when film frame is exposed you move the object/ character slightly by hands to create an effect that it moved by itself. This cycle is repeated until the Animator has achieved the amount of minutes that is needed.
I've had a positive experience using the plasticine to create slow motion animation comparing to cut out slow motion animation, this was because plasticine can be used with ease, it's moldable enough to created any form of object, it is flexible enough to be moved in any way, shape or form and it does not melt under hot studio lighting. Also, it makes a 3D effect. On the other hand, cut out animation is more complicated seen as the actual characters can't stand up because it's 2D animation. the movement of the object is limited seen as you can't make the fade out of the film frame, nor can it looks as though it's coming out of the screen towards you.
Morph is the first plasticine claymation character sculpted by Peter Lord, appeared with the late Tony Hart. Morph appeared usually in 1 min shots through out the , with Tony Hart usually saying a line or few and Morph would reply with meaningful gestures. Morph was produced for the BBC by Aardman Animation. The character Morph inspired Aardman to create other claymation animation, like Wallace and Gomet, chicken run, flushed away, arthur christmas etc. They also created television series and short animated films such as, planet sketch, shaun sheep, timmy time, animated conversation etc.
The strengths of using claymation animation are that clay can take the shape of any character in any way shape or form where the clay maintains a recognizable character throughout the shot. It is easy to mold and flexible to move in any direction. It enables us to be very creative and we are free to make which ever character we want.
The limitations of claymation animation are it is very difficult to move the body parts of the character without it falling into pieces. It is also difficult to stick anything to the back of a particular character in order to play its role. For example, in my Claymation animation, one of the character is superman and as we all know superman saves the day. In order for the superman character to save the skater character he must pick him off the ground, doing so was very difficult. So my group decided to use strings to pick them both up, but it was pretty difficult because the string kept cutting through the plasticine, as it was so heavy.
Overall, i think comparing to all the other stop motion animation my class engaged in, this was the easiest. Comparing to cut out it took less time to prepare because we did not have to find suitable images, then cut them out. We just mold our characters and went straight for it.

Murdoch Phone Hacking Scandal
The news of the world shut down because of the Phone Hacking Scandal, after years in printing it was the first significant effects of the scandal. They hacked into the voice mail of missing school girl "Milly Dowlers" This was illegal because they went against the Data Protection Act which clearly stated that invading personal information whether through voicemail, bank statement etc is against the law.
In a report by the Guardian on July 4th , 2011, the police found evidence linking private investigator Glenn Mulcaire Have collected personal information about the missing school girl Milly Dowler. According to the paper, Glenn and other Private Investigators were hired by News of The World to hack into the Dowlers voicemail. In doing so they released information that gave the Dowler family false hope that their daughter was still alive when she was already dead, and also whilst they were going through these voicemails they deleted the evidence which could have helped the detectives and the police in finding Milly Dowler months earlier and give the family a sense of closure. One could argue that such irresponsible behavior could be what led to the missing school girl's death.
There were to many allegations and evidence been put forward against the News of The World to keep it in tact. Whilst majority of the high class individuals stoop up for the news of the world scandal, their was only one person who stood up against such disgusting behaviors and this was Labor MP Tom Watson. He claimed that there was " More chance of parliament being hit by a meteorite than conservatives passing judgement on the Murdochs' leadership of News Corporation" Meaning that our current government would rather go down for the whole thing instead of speaking out against the Murdochs. He also lashed out against Torry members of the commons' culture committee for siding with Rupert and James Murdoch, as they were brought to an amendment which said that Rupert Murdoch was "not fit" to run an international company.
Because of all the allegations against the news of the world Rebakah Brooks, the chief executive of the News International quit after worldwide spread criticizm of her role in the phone hacking scandal. Although she claims to not having any knowledge of what was going on around her, she was still being scrutinized by member of the oppositions and the public.
Even the Prime Minister david Cameron is said to be involved in the phone hacking, when his communication Director Andy Coulsdon resigned from his post because it was said that he has been covering events to his previous old job at the news of the world. Also because it was alleged that David Cameron was seen horse back riding with Rebakah Brooks's husband Charlie Brooks, a horse trainer. It was then reported in the Mail that Cameron had finally admitted to having been out horse riding with Charlie Brooks, but it was only because the horse was loaned to Rebakah by a metropolitan Police.

cut out Animation Evaluation
Cut Out Animation is a technique for producing animation by using flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from materials from papers, magazines, newspaper etc. It is one of the oldest animation known to man, and it is also the most well known stop motion animation, seen as we have all been exposed to it through films such as Alice in the Wonderland (US).It probably one of the first animation around. Nowadays most cut out styled animation created by computers with scanned images or others taking the place of cut out materials.
As strongly suggested in the name, it involves moving cut out images into one frame and clicking pictures at every stage to create the overall movement, this is much easier than having to draw the image and then clicking pictures of it.
This animation has many different techniques and forms. The traditional technique for cut out animation is where the animators moves the images into the frame and click for the right movement.
The method of animation is what makes it looks and feel professional, it can be otherwise even though the animator puts their all into making it work. It has to be produced from beginning to ending, and it has to be shot in sequential order, with each between frames involving adjustments to the pieces of image before it captures another for the video.
Although, cut out animation may seem to be easy and much more quicker to produce than , it has its disadvantages because there a boundaries on where the cut out can be moved. For example, it is not possible to make the image seem as if its coming out of the screen or fading away. Also once you moved the image there is no guarantee that it will go back to the way the scene was previously.
In comparison to other animation, such as Claymation animation, Cut out animation has less more complication when it comes down to moving the characters, objects etc. Cut out animation is 2D, where as claymation animation is 3D and is therefore less complex in movement because they can graphically simplify complicated concepts. Using claymation means that the character can do other complex movement that cut out have boundaries to. For example, a character fading in and out of the frame or coming towards the camera suggesting it is coming out of screen.
Despite the disadvantages of cut out animation it is still very quick and simple technique to use when making stop motion.

Channel Ident Evaluation
The task was to get into groups and create an ident for CWC. Firstly, we made three mind maps of ideas for the concept of the ident. We then created a video pitch of the overall concept and one of my team mate presented it to the class.
At first we wasted some time because we weren't really sure how to end the ident, whether to carve out the logo onto the molded plasticine or mold the the letters of the logo, but as soon as we were focused on what to do, we started making used of the time we had.
I think i fulfilled my role very well because i helped out with the planning of the concept for the ident, but i could have improved on my role if i had participated more in the making of the ident. Because i was not sure what my team mates were doing. I guess, i should have communicated more with them and gotten more involved with my group.
For the ident we chose claymation animation and used plasticine to make the ident, though it was kind of difficult at first because the plasticine was too hard to mold, but once it was heated down, it was flexible and easy to mold into those tiny little balls that came together as one.
The whole idea of the balls coming as one, and are in different colors is to show "diversity" as they are many different races at CWC etc.
Based on the feedback our idents received, i think that our ident answered the creative brief very well, because the ident is very creative and humorous. Also, the music also connected well with the ident It also initiated the purpose of the task that was set. As a group we managed to fulfil all the aspects of the brief because the ident is around 30 add seconds long. It has reflected the style, branding and attitude of CWC, seen as our idea involved 7 colored balls coming together as one to demonstrate diversity. And at CWC they're are various races in which those colored balls represent. The ident also includes the original logo for the college, and colors used are the same as those of the logo.
There were a few areas of the project that didn't work very well, though we had it all planned out step by step. When all the colored balls came together to form the splat, it looked really disgusting on camera. It was a little difficult to carve out the logo, also we only had one opportunity to do it because all the colors were together and would be hard to separate.
I am most proud of the way we managed to organize our task and the fact that we kept all the colored balls in place throughout, so that it could be recorded. Even though it was meant to be in stop motion, which it is, it felt like we were making a movie or something of that matter. In the end it looked like it was done professionally which was what we were aiming for.
Overall i think we did well in creating such a humorous and creative piece of work. I really enjoyed working on this project because i had the opportunity to such off my creative side.
